Howdy Horse-Lovers!!

SUMMER has arrived! Horses lost all their winter coat and all going into AHS vaccination period
again for 6 weeks. Meaning resting time and just chill for them and us!

Our last big showing event was the WESTERN FESTIVAL from 22-25 September at the Afri-Dome
in Parys, Freestate.
It was an AQHA pointed approved show and SAQHA pointed show and the big CRI Reining event.
Competitors all the way from Kwazulu-Natal were competing!

In the SAQHA Open Class Jullia was competing first timewith an imported trained reining horse,
called Sir Pine by Boomer, he is a 12 year old gelding , we all call him Boomer, what has been
imported and owned in July this year, by Sarieta van Wyk. Julia came 1st in the Trail with a
score of 69.5.
The Western Festival was a BIG, well attended and well organised show, once again!!!!

One week later we were off to the North West, “city” called Vryburg!!!! This time the National
Youth show Championships been held in Vryburg.. Last year it was held in Mpumalanga
(Morgenzone). Every year it is in a different province. 9 provinces were competing all from
different agriculture schools. About 400 children were competing either with a sheep, goat, pig,
cow, bull, rabbit, chicken, racing pigeon or a horse, also culinary and dairy products were
produced.
High School Bekker achieved 23 medals this year, WELL DONE!!!

Julia were competing with her horse Aladdin, this year in the senior section, last year she was
still a junior. It is a total different kind of showing then that of our shows. No riding involved.
It includes stable management, feeding, mugging and cleaning the stables and decorating it
presentable and interesting, all by the youth pupil itself, no help at all from an adult. Then they
write an exam.
10 horses were competing in the senior section for horses. There is a 20 min washing time, have
to wash the whole horse spotless, everywhere. You get some time for drying the horse. Then off
you go to the preparation area, 20 min you get to prepare your horse to show it in the show-ring.
In the show-ring you have to present your horse with pride and all the time facing the judge.
They don’t judge the horses conformation at all. In the show-ring Aladdin and Julia came 5th
place. In the overall senior horse section ( includes the score from the exam, wash, prepare and
showing) she came 4th, which it a very good achievement for her!
Next year National Youth show will be held in Worcester, Western Cape!! That’s even further!

Bronco Scooter Chrome (Blondy) has been sold to Ian Colyn from Krugersdorp. Congratulation!
He will use her for breeding, he has his own Quarter Horse Stud called the “Q Stud”.

That’s all for now.........Keep on spinning and sliding..........
